KYOTO NISHIJIN
Since 2007, Expo House has been more than a place to sleep. A house where people of all nationalities share daily life — meals, laughter, and the moments that make a place feel like home.
Based in Nishijin, a quiet, lived-in part of Kyoto, we want to be a home where housemates get to know each other — a place to hear “welcome back” when you come home.
Who lives here
A home for every kind of stay in Kyoto
Whatever brings you to Kyoto, you’ll find housemates on a similar journey — and a furnished room that’s ready from day one.
University & exchange students
Ritsumeikan, Bukkyo and Otani universities are nearby, with direct buses to Doshisha and Kyoto University. A desk in every room makes studying easy.
Japanese language students
Practise your Japanese every day at home. Many housemates attend language schools in Kyoto, and no Japanese is needed to move in.
Working holiday
Arrive with just a suitcase: furniture, appliances, utilities and Wi-Fi are all included, and stays start from 2 months. Some housemates even come to train at a local aikido dojo.
Remote workers
A desk and chair in every private room, Wi-Fi in every house, and a residential neighbourhood — work from Kyoto, then explore it after hours.

Six houses in Nishijin, Kyoto
All of our houses are in the Nishijin area, between Daitoku-ji and Nijo Castle, close to Kitano Tenmangu and Kinkaku-ji. A popular choice for international and exchange students — Ritsumeikan, Bukkyo and Otani universities are nearby, with direct buses to Doshisha, Kyoto University, Kyoto Station and Gion — and for aikido practitioners training at a dojo in the neighbourhood.
